The Anthem Project
This event based project invites visitors to learn about the origins of national anthems, reflect on New Zealand’s current national anthem, write and compose an alternative national anthem and have it performed by an invited group of talented musicians.
First performed in 2016 as part of the Pō Whakaatu Toi Art Night at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and situated in Ngā Toi Arts Te Papa gallery. Performed by Tyna Keelan (Vocals), Mike Isaacs (Saxophone), Matt Steele (Piano), Scott Maynard (Bass) and Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa (Drums).
Second performance in 2017 as part of the Waitangi Day celebrations at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. Performed by Jhan Lindsay (Vocals), Eilish Wilson (Saxophone), Matt Steele (Piano), Scott Maynard (Bass) and Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa (Drums).
